Betrayal Trauma, Part 1: The Cause and Effects of Betrayal Trauma, with Claire Atenian, LMFT

Do you know if you are a victim of betrayal trauma? If you think you could be, this episode will likely offer you clarity and hope on your journey if you’ve felt stuck. Today I am joined by Claire Atenian, LMFT of Thrive Therapy. Claire specializes in betrayal trauma. She breaks this specific type of pain down into terms and examples that are easy to connect with.

We will spend time exploring how our brains react to trauma. While you’re likely familiar with a trauma response (fight, flight, or freeze), you might not be familiar with the fourth one we discuss. This episode will challenge you to examine your own experience and connect the dots between your past and your day-to-day reactions to stress. It may also help you see why trusting God can feel so challenging after experiencing betrayal trauma.

Be sure to listen to the next episode as Claire returns to share practical steps to heal the shame and be restored to a place of hope and safety.
